The Great Fairy Parade

Ari was feeling pretty nasty, so Nate decided to take us to Pearl St in Boulder for an afternoon stroll. We got there and had no idea where all these people were coming from, especially considering ninety percent of them we wearing fairy wings! We were so confused til Nate asked around. It turns out they have a Fairy Parade that celebrates spring- the tulips on Pearl St and May Day. It was quite a sight! We had a great time watching all the fairies of various ages stroll by and got excited about participating in it next year! Danika had her first glimpse of tulips - and destroyed a few :)

Sweet Baby

As my pregnant belly got bigger and bigger many people told me my world was about to be turned inside out upside down and backwards. They told me stories of how they never knew what love was until they met their baby. I continue to hear stories of how fast these days go and how to cherish each moment. Strangers chase us down in Sam's Club parking lots just to tell us how beautiful Danika is (no really, I'm serious. It's happened twice.) Nate and I kinda laugh and say thank you, but really we're thinking, "Yeah. We know. We did good."

But sometimes I walk out of the bedroom and see my handsome husband and beautiful daughter cuddling and have to stop. Nate thinks I'm silly because sometimes I just stand there and start crying. How many times will I get to see my husband sitting with his beautiful daughter propped up on his chest? Not many! Danika is growing so fast! In many outfits, our little almost 6 month old has her feet sticking out of 9 month and 12 month pants, an inch too short.

I just had to share these pictures of some of my favorite moments. Danika and Banjo, and sometimes Nate, have become my exercise buddies as the spring days have crept up.  And Danika just continues to become more gorgeous and more loved every day.

Easter Weekend

What a fun weekend! On Saturday, Grandpa Skip (Opa) was in Fort Collins so Ari and Danika decided to visit the aunts and uncles. We had a great time visiting, which ended in a trip to duh duh duh.... McCalister's Deli! Imagine that. Opa ordered sweet tea and carrot cake for everyone to share.... Dani thought she was included- she got mad at Opa when he wouldn't let her drink his tea, so she grabbed it and pulled it on top of both of them! HYSTERICAL! Take that, Opa! Afterwards, Opa had the leftover carrot cake sitting in front of him as Dani was standing on his lap ...  she let herself drop and came within an inch of a facefull of frosting! We had quite a few laughs :)

Sunday began with a visit from the Easter Bunny... we opened Nate's basket first ... he got his first package of hot dogs he's eaten since we've been married, lots of his favorite candies, and duh duh duh ... drum roll, please ... rockies tickets and a rockies jersey for Danika.

We headed out to a very early 730 service at Flat Irons Community Church- once again, AWESOME. Afterwards Ari took a much needed nap (packing Easter baskets takes a lot of energy!) and then they headed to the game. We made it through about 4 innings before it got way to cold and rainy for us. We got a few great pictures before we headed out!

Once home, we had an all-American Easter dinner of french bread pizza and proceeded to open Danika's Easter basket. That silly old bunny brought her ... bubbles, her first absolutely adorable swimsuit and sunhat, a yellow bunny, summer pajamas, a rubber duck "pool" that moves toys inside when you touch the "water", and lots of good books!

It was a GREAT weekend full of many wonderful memories! And the best of all ... Ari has 28 days of teaching left til she gets to be home with her baby! Woot!

The Infamous FIsh Tank

SOOOOOOO...Nate has his fish tank up and running... it's uber exciting. He bought two something-er-others and 2 mollies- he named the two red ones Hope and Faith (lets hope THEY dont die) and is working on names for the other two:)

P.S. On the pic of Danika- doesn't she look like Nate?! ANd yes, that would be spaghetti sauce on MY shirt and sweet potatoes on her shirt and inside her nose... it's hereditary...

Spring Break 09

Ari's spring break started 2 days early, brought on by the big winter storm of 09. It was a pretty nasty couple of days, as Broomfield earned a share of about 18 inches of snow. We were stuck inside all day Thursday but ventured out for groceries and a walk around the mall on Friday. Saturday Ari headed out to visit her parents in grand junction for a few days.

Upon arrival, at the weekly lunch at Taco Bell, as Granpa skip was holding litte Danika, the family discovered Danika MIRACULOUSLY knows how to use a cup and was going for the diet pepsi. Bad news bears! Later on in the week, Danika once again lunged for the sweet tea as Grandpa skip (Opa) was chugging his.

We had a good week visiting the grandparents- which ended with a big finale! Little Danika carried on the family tradition of getting her ears pierced. She did so good! She wimpered a bit but by the time Ari snuggled her for a minute she was fine as they walked out the door. Pretty soon she can wear her big girl diamonds Uncle Brady got her for Christmas!

In the meantime, Nate got his fish tank up and running, finally. He got his first two fish on sale (thats my guy!) - two platties named Hope and Faith, one of which (Faith) turns out to be pregnant! Danika loves watching her two new pets floating around, and listening to the sound of the running water.

Ari finished putting Danika's Easter basket together- we hope to go to church then go on a hike with a nice picnic lunch, but we'll see how the weather treats us!

A visit to the Easter Bunny!

Dani girl had her first visit to the Easter Bunny! She did so good! Surprisingly enough we got a smile out of her long enough for the photographer!
